The Sandwich Generation

Making decisions & coping with transitioning a loved one to long term care group therapy

This group is CO-Facilitated by Cyndy Shinaberry, MSW, LCSW & Charles Beckelhimer, MSW, Registered Clinical Social Work intern and designed for spouses, family, friends, and caregivers of an ageing loved one who have conflicting emotions about the placement of a loved one into a long-term care facility.

The Benefits of the group are

  • Garnering supportive participation with your loved one and help you develop healthy boundaries.

  • Learn the importance of maintaining a good attitude and keep your expectations realistic.

  • Learn ways to balance frequency and length of your visits to avoid burnout.

  • Expose you to new people in similar situations and allows you time to unwind.

  • An opportunity to gain the insight of people who may have already navigated their way through some of your current challenges or present solutions you may not have considered.

  • An opportunity to share your innermost feelings with those who are experiencing similar struggles.

  • Members from the same area may be familiar with local resources and will better understand some of the challenges you face.
